Orange Philosophy of Ministry
Bethel Assembly uses “Orange Children’s Ministry Curriculum.” The Orange philosophy and strategy enables church leaders and parents to synchronize their efforts to fuel wonder, discovery and passion in the next generation. By combining the critical influences of the light of the church (yellow) and the love of the family (red) the Orange Strategy shows a generation who God is more effectively than either could alone.
From preschool to college, Orange draws on the elements of wonder, discovery and passion, infusing them into children, students and young adults. Why? To see God for who he is, to help young people see themselves the way God sees them, so that they can love others the way God does. Check out the Orange website for parent resources or download the Parent Cue app for additional resources.
Royal Rangers ministry for girls and boys meets at 7:00 pm on Wednesday nights throughout the school year. The program motivates children spiritually through Bible study and memorization, devotionals, and Christian role models. Children are strengthened mentally by an advanced awards-based weekly program. Further, children increase various skills as they participate in age-specific activities and recreation. Finally, they are introduced to church, community, and nature-related activities to develop their social skills and awareness.
Weekly Wednesday evening meetings are designed to develop the total child for Christ and offer love and understanding between the child and a Godly role model. The life of a Royal Ranger includes great outdoor adventures through camping, water activities, hiking, rappelling, and mountain climbing, as well as challenging indoor adventures.
Friday School at Bethel is the place to be! Every Friday from about 8:40 to 9:20 AM, children gather to experience small groups for kids, enjoy breakfast and lively discussion about the month’s virtue (Godly character virtues that change each month). While they enjoy breakfast, the kids watch a short professionally produced DVD that highlights the week’s Bible story in a highly creative way. After breakfast, they break into small groups to dig into the topic further through a round-table discussion with their leaders. We invite your children to experience Friday School with us. We love kids!
US 252 is an exciting ministry for kids in grades K-6. During the regularly scheduled Sunday morning service, kids are released to attend US 252, a kids-oriented Sunday morning worship experience, that includes singing, Bible teaching, and small group discussion. US 252 runs from September through May. During the summer months, activity boxes are distributed to kids, enhancing their learning experience during the service time.
First Look is a ministry designed specifically for pre-schoolers. Kids learn simple, core Biblical principles through hands-on play and simple Bible lessons during the 10:30 Sunday morning worship time.
Children’s Ministry Director
Christy Johnson grew up in Duluth, MN. She has an Elementary Education degree from the University of WI Eau Claire and, along with her husband, Seth, taught abroad in Kuwait and Indonesia from 2007-2012. She has a passion for Children’s Ministry, baking, and enjoying nature. More important than any of that, though, she loves to spend time with her three amazing kids: playing board games, reading, or just being together.
