Throughout the summer, Elevate Youth Group meets at Bethel every Tuesday at 6:30pm. We love camaraderie and gaming, contemporary worship and Bible teaching. Elevate often has time in small groups designed for prayer and more personal conversation; we want to challenge and support each other!
A typical Elevate gathering will include games, worship, teaching, videos, small group time and food. We try to balance discussion of hot-button issues with sound Bible teaching. We are committed to service in our church, our community, and the wider world, to spiritual growth through prayer and challenging and relevant teaching, and to supporting each other by walking through life together.
Junior High Friday School classes meet from 8:30-9:15am and the Senior High group meets from 9:20-10:00 at the Methodist Church next to Fosston High School nearly every Friday during the school year.
Pastors Tyler Stynsberg and Alissa Martinson teach the class together, and the 2017-2018 curriculum went through the book of Romans. We will be choosing the curriculum for the 2018-2019 school year soon, so please check back.
Missions and evangelism are a central part of the ministry of Elevate. We are sending a team from Bethel to Swaziland, Africa in August 2018. We also have students from our youth group traveling to preach in Kenya this winter.
Camps are the apex of the summer ministry at Bethel and run through most of July. Our camp is located six miles south of Fosston on Sand Hill Lake, and the camp is beautiful, and exceptionally well run and cared for by Manager Don Vanklompenburg. Our summer camps are a time of soaking in the things of God, and 2018 will focus on ENCOUNTER: The pursuit of God. Read more about Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp on their website.
Equip Conference: Fall Retreat
Our yearly Equip Conference happens over MEA weekend every October and is, once again, at Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp. The retreat incorporates leadership training and soaking in the presence of God and challenging and encouraging messages from speakers in services and break out sessions. There is also a lot of fun that happens each year.
Empower Weekend: Spring Retreat
Each spring we head down to the cities for a Thursday-Saturday for a time to hear great speakers, engage in worship, grow closer to God, have fun and reunite with friends from camp. We also include a service project and a fun event like swimming or a baseball game to top off the full weekend.
Three times a year the Fosston area youth groups come together for a joint evangelist service. These include, food, worship, games, prizes and a life changing message. Students are encouraged to invite as many friends as they can to these events.
Our youth ministry consists of small groups called Crews. There are currently three crews; red, blue and green. These small groups meet together outside of youth group and also compete in the Colors Wars once a month for a night of food, fun and small group time.
We try to have a youth event once a month to get together and hang out. These include, tubing, horseback riding, movie nights, game nights, lock ins and much more. Our youth pastors, Alissa and Josh also love to have youth over for “family dinners” on a regular basis to just enjoy food and fellowship.
Discipleship and leadership are a big part of Elevate Student Ministries. There is a discipleship group that meets on most Sunday evenings at the Martinson home to grow deeper in our walk with God together. There are also small discipleship groups that meet different days throughout the week depending on each group’s schedule. See Pastor Alissa if you are interested in joining one of these groups.
