Encountering God. Reaching Other Students. Becoming World Changers.

Teen Ministry

Throughout the summer, Elevate Youth Group meets at Bethel every Tuesday at 6:30pm. We love camaraderie and gaming, contemporary worship and Bible teaching. Elevate often has time in small groups designed for prayer and more personal conversation; we want to challenge and support each other!

A typical Elevate gathering will include games, worship, teaching, videos, small group time and food. We try to balance discussion of hot-button issues with sound Bible teaching. We are committed to service in our church, our community, and the wider world, to spiritual growth through prayer and challenging and relevant teaching, and to supporting each other by walking through life together.

Friday School

Junior High Friday School classes meet from 8:30-9:15am and the Senior High group meets from 9:20-10:00 at the Methodist Church next to Fosston High School nearly every Friday during the school year.

Pastors Tyler Stynsberg and Alissa Martinson teach the class together, and the 2017-2018 curriculum went through the book of Romans.  We will be choosing the curriculum for the 2018-2019 school year soon, so please check back.

Missions and evangelism are a central part of the ministry of Elevate.  We have sent teams out from Bethel to Swaziland, Africa the last two years and are in the planning stages of a missions trip in 2020.  We have also sent out students to Kenya and Guatemala.

Summer Camp

Camps are the apex of the summer ministry at Bethel and run through most of July. Our camp is located six miles south of Fosston on Sand Hill Lake, and the camp is beautiful, and exceptionally well run and cared for by Manager Don Vanklompenburg. Our summer camps are a time of soaking in the things of God as well as building friendships and having a ton of fun! Each year there is a new tag line for the camp theme but our main theme is always ENCOUNTER.  We want to pursue God! Read more about Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp on their website.

Empower Weekend: Spring Retreat

Each spring we head down to the cities for a Thursday-Saturday for a time to hear great speakers, engage in worship, grow closer to God, have fun and reunite with friends from camp.  We also include a service project and a fun event like swimming or a baseball game to top off the full weekend.

The Gathering

Three times a year the Fosston area youth groups come together for a joint evangelist service.  These include, food, worship, games, prizes and a life changing message.  Students are encouraged to invite as many friends as they can to these events.

Youth Events

We try to have a youth event once a month to get together and hang out.  These include, tubing, horseback riding, movie nights, game nights, lock ins and much more.  Our youth pastors, Alissa and Josh also love to have youth over for “family dinners” on a regular basis to just enjoy food and fellowship.

Discipleship and leadership are a big part of Elevate Student Ministries.  We have both guys and girls Bible studies that meet each week to grow deeper in our walk with God together. We also will be launching a discipleship and leadership group this fall.  See Pastor Alissa if you are interested in joining one of these groups.

Youth Pastor

Alissa Martinson

Alissa Martinson moved to Fosston in May 2016. Alissa has been a youth pastor in Rosemount, MN, and Wamego, Kansas. Most recently, she served as director of Youth Development and Family Engagement for the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities. Alissa also serves as the youth camp director for the MN FCA and is passionate about seeing students encounter God at camp. Alissa and Josh have been married since April 2006 and have 3 amazing children. Josh is a vital part of the youth ministry and also works at Fosston High School as a Para. He also coaches Jr. High basketball and is the assistant coach for varsity football.  Her favorite things are worshiping Jesus, her family, coffee, missions trips and connecting with others and challenging them to run after God with an unquenchable hunger and thirst.
